What you need to know about vaccines (Part I)

COVID-19 has created a serious impact on the whole world. While the pandemic has caused death to over 4.5 Million individuals worldwide, vaccines have been used as a method in combatting this deadly virus.

This blog is about what you need to know about the vaccines that are out there.

Several types of vaccines that are widely used around the world are:

  • Pfizer
  • Moderna
  • Oxford-AztraZeneca
  • Sputnik V
  • Johnson & Johnson
  • Sinovac
  • Sinopharm
  • Covaxin
  • Novavax


The vaccines can be categorized as RNA, Viral Vector, Inactivated Virus & Protein-Based according to the technology used by the manufacturers. At present, DNA technology is also in the testing stages for a new vaccine that is about to be released.

Vaccines also differ from one another in the number of doses and storage levels.

 In our previous blog , we discussed the different types of vaccines and their technology in brief. Here, we'll be elaborating on the different types of vaccine technologies. 1. Viral Vector Vaccines: A harmless, modified form of the virus known as "the vector" is used to transmit genetic code for the antigen in this sort of vaccination.
